A new Thai street food spot, Godunk, is now open at 332 Bowery in Noho, between Bond and Great Jones streets, from chef Nate Limwong. The chef earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand at her Hell’s Kitchen Thai go-to, Chalong, and went on to open a Thai hot pot restaurant, Unglo, earlier this year. Godunk’s menu lists dishes from Isaan in the North to her native Surat Thani, a southern city that specializes in seafood, with items like dry pok pok noodles, Godunk fried rice that’s similar to China’s sticky rice dish, ba jang, and seafood dish yen ta fo with noodles and water spinach.
Cocktails come from Angel’s Share alum Ryan Saputra, who has put together a slate of romance film-inspired drinks in a room with vintage cinema aesthetics.
A new Soho wine shop opens with a familiar name
In November, the magazine Wine Enthusiast opened a standalone shop in Soho at 27 Greene Street, at Grand Street. The 1,400-square-foot space is a way to give “New Yorkers a place to actually see, test, and learn from Wine Enthusiast’s experts –— whether they’re outfitting a first apartment or thinking about long-term storage,” says a spokesperson about the opening. It comes ahead of the Bon Appetit-branded market and restaurant at JFK, which is on track to open next year, and the larger trend of brands opening restaurants from Louis Vuitton to Members Only and beyond.
