Governor Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday that three infrastructure projects on Central New York’s New York State Thruway have been completed on time while staying on budget.

The project is part of a $17.4 million of investment in the region’s transportation infrastructure throughout New York.

The changes made include

Replacing the Townline Road Bridge in DeWitt and Salina–$7.5 million

Increased vertical clearances from 14.3 inches to 16.7 inches on eastbound lanes and 14.9 to 17.3 inches on westbound lanesFull depth pavement reconstruction of the approaches and shoulders under the bridgeNew safety guiderail and a snow fence installationPedestrian sidewalkDrainage structures along Townline Road.

Upgrading the Interchange 34A Bridge (Syracuse – Chittenango – Oswego – I-481)–$3.9 million

Full and partial depth deck rapirsRepairs to the substructureInstalling new waterproofing membrane and asphalt wearing surfaceInstalling new jointsConcrete repairs of ramp lanes, mill and inlay asphalt New guiderail and reflective striping

I-90 Pavement Improvement Project in Seneca and Ontario Counties–$6 million

Full and partial depth pavement repairs on I-90 eastbound and westbound between milepost 327.5 to milepost 347.1, Full-depth pavement repairs at various locationsPartial depth mill and inlay work and shoulder reconstruction to improve existing structural integrity.New reflective line striping and milled-in audible roadway delineators (MIARD) on the highway shoulders.

“Infrastructure investments are benefiting New Yorkers by modernizing our transportation system and improving the quality of life for travelers, local businesses and residents,” Governor Hochul said. “These projects are transforming our roadways, critical for the economy and improving travel for millions of motorists.”

In its upcoming (proposed 2026-2030) five-year Capital Plan, the Thruway Authority is looking to invest more than $470 million in capital projects in Central New York.
