Ritz cracker sandwiches sold in eight states, including New York state, are under recall due to a labeling error.
Mondelēz Global LLC announced a voluntary recall of 70 cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The affected cartons include individually wrapped packs that may be incorrectly labeled as cheese variety, even though the product may be a peanut butter variety, the FDA notice stated.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product, according to the notice.
All outer cartons affected are labeled correctly and provide an allergen advisory statement indicating that the product contains peanuts.
The recall affects 27.6-ounce Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches – 20 Count (20 x 1.38-oz. six-pack carton), with a UPC code 44000 07584 2 and expiration dates of Jan. 8, 2026, and Jan. 15, 2026.
The recalled items were sold in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
There have been no reports of injury or illness reported to the company to date.
The recall was made after Mondelēz Global LLC discovered that 70 cases were inadvertently shipped to a limited number of retailers in eight states. Consumers who have a peanut allergy shouldn’t eat these products and should discard any product under recall.
