There’s a new millionaire in New Jersey, after a winning ticket for Tuesday’s $90 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold at a store in Union City.
The owner of the store where the purchase was made, the Garden State News shop at 4024 Bergenline Ave, found out about the winning sale on Wednesday morning.
“I just found out this morning at 6:30 that we had a winner,” Krish Patel, the store owner since 2014, said. “It’s great for the player, for us and the community. Now, we’re one of the lucky stores, too.”
The winning numbers were 17, 25, 26, 53 and 60. The gold Mega Ball was 16.
Garden State News will receive a $30,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, which has a cash value of nearly $41.99 million.
It’s only been five draws since November 14, when a player from Georgia won a jackpot of $983 million.
The identity of Tuesday’s winner in Union City remains unknown.
Lotto officials say if you’re holding onto that winning ticket, keep it somewhere secure. Only tell a close friend or relative, and contact a lawyer, a financial adviser and a tax accountant before coming forward to claim your prize.
