The presidents of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo are slated to sign a peace deal to end a conflict in the region. The two sides signed an agreement in June but fighting has continued in eastern Congo.
Later today, the president and first lady Melania Trump will participate in the National Christmas Tree lighting. The tree is from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest in Virginia. The Beach Boys, ALana Springsteen and Brett Young will perform in a ceremony for the tree lighting.
