Brian May, the renowned Queen guitarist, has shared his grief over the loss of one of his closest friends, Phil Webb, who tragically died from a sudden heart attack two years ago.
Phil Webb, who was Brian’s driver and a man he described as the “kindest man” he ever met, passed away in 2023.
At the time, Brian expressed that the day of Phil’s death was the “saddest day of his life.”
Recently, Brian took to Instagram to share his feelings about the loss of his friend. He posted a photo of them together with the caption, “In my thoughts today, the unforgettable Phil Webb.”
The picture shows them at Brian’s knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace, with Phil looking after him as he always did. Brian wrote, “Seen here with me, proudly looking after me as he always did, at my knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace. HE was suddenly taken from this world two years ago, way, way too soon.”
He continued to praise Phil, saying, “He was the kindest man I ever met, to every man, woman and child, no matter what their color or creed, and a passionate champion of animals, all of which makes him, to me, one of the greats. We all miss ya Phil, too much. RIP.”
Fans responded to Brian’s post with words of support and condolences. One fan agreed that Phil was “such a kind man” and would be “dearly missed”.
Another sent “extra love” to all those who had been close to Phil.
When Phil passed away, Brian announced the sad news in a statement. The statement read, “This is one of the saddest days of my life. Last night we lost Phil Webb to a heart attack.
