SDNY

COURTHOUSE,
Dec 4 – A man from Mexico who
has lived in the US since 2012
was arrested by ICE in The
Bronx on December 4. He filed
a habeas corpus petition the
same day in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York, where
Inner City Press found it.

  The
petition says Edward Cid Orea
is the father “to two US
citizen children and has
numerous US citizen and lawful
permanent resident relatives.”
The petition goes on that “he
is gainfully employed and – to
the best knowledge of counsel,
given the exigent
circumstances of his detention
– does not have a criminal
history.”

The rest of the
petition is similar to others
recently filed in SDNY.
Counsel here are Rhidaya
Trivedi and Ron Kuby of West
23rd Street, who recently
represented among others Brad
Lander.

   The
requests include immediate
release and attorney’s fees.

The case is Orea
v. Francis, et al.,
1:25-cv-10067 (Unassigned)
