It is going to be cold today, very cold for parts of New York State. The Polar Vortex is sweeping down south and will cover much of New York State as we head into the weekend.

Massive Drop In Temperatures Across New York State

We are looking at a 20-degree or more swing in our high temperatures for parts of New York State from yesterday to today and heading into the weekend.

Along with the cooldown come some windy conditions and wind chill temperatures in the single digits.

Those cold temperatures will be with most of New York through the weekend. We could also see some more Lake Effect snow for the Western and Central part of New York before the weekend is over. It doesn’t look like a lot of snow is coming, but enough to impact travel this weekend.

Below Average Temperatures Expected For New York State

Temperatures this weekend will be well below average for this time of year across New York. The extended forecast is also calling for a cooler than normal December in New York State.
