MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – East Harlem is glowing again as the beloved holiday tree on 106th Street and Third Avenue gets ready for its 22nd year.
Handmade ornaments and the love of neighbors and volunteers make this annual tradition a true celebration of unity and hope. Directly after the tree lighting, there’s a pop-up ice skating rink at 104th Street and 2nd Avenue.
The event is thanks to the dedicated Tree Committee and Union Settlement. This year’s theme, planting seeds of hope, spreading branches of unity and strength, is bringing the entire neighborhood together. Ponce Bank is once again standing proudly beside the community, lighting up the season with support and joy.

In the Bronx, the spirit of giving shines just as brightly. Comp Sci High first reached out before Thanksgiving, aiming to help food-insecure families, and there was a response from students, staff, and neighbors.
They collected 1,800 canned goods and raised more than $32,000, enabling the school to expand food aid to alumni and families in need. And now Bronx legend Fat Joe is stepping in as principal for the day to celebrate the community’s successful food drive.
