JAMAICA, Queens (PIX11) — A 68-year-old man was killed while crossing the street in Jamaica on Friday, according to police.

The 68-year-old, identified as Trevor Samuels of Queens, was in the crosswalk on the intersection of 93rd Avenue and 168th Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday, officials said.

While crossing the street, a 26-year-old man operating a 2025 Zhilong Q-Max moped was traveling west on 93rd Avenue when he struck Samuels, according to police. Samuel was taken to a nearby hospital with “severe trauma to the head,” officials said.

Samuels was pronounced dead at the hospital by the staff.

The moped driver stayed on the scene until police arrived, where he was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
