BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New Dorp and Port Richmond wrestling teams competed in the Yuri Vilenskiy Memorial Tournament at Edward Murrow HS in Brooklyn on Saturday and came away with five firsts and more than a dozen other placers.

PR had six of seven grapplers place in their weight classes in the main bracket with Barry Adewumi placing first at 118 pounds.

Jayden Adesanya placed second at 190, while Douglas Diaz (heavyweight) and Marcel Rice (220 pounds) each placed fourth.

In the Novice division, Deric Kautras and Darrius Hines both placed in their very first tournaments.

Meanwhile, New Dorp had the following wrestlers place: Mohammed Munir (second at 110), Malik Ayesh second at 215), Sami Zahrieh (third at 215), Sam Cocozza (third at 190), Aiden Minacapilli (fourth at 165) and Heivin Yu (fourth at 138).

In the Novice division, New Dorp’s Andy Liu won the 215-pound division, while Luis Olvera was the champ at 126 pounds. Tristan Abrams (157) and Atur Baratov (126) were runners-up.

Port Richmond will face Susan Wagner on Tuesday and New Dorp on Wednesday.
