STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Sophomore Aliya Monroe scored a career-high 23 points and fellow sophomore Savannah Breslin also netted a career-high 17 points to go along with seven assists as Notre Dame Academy opened its CHSAA AA season with an 80-55 victory over Mary Louis Academy last Saturday at the College of Staten Island.

“It was a great way to open our AA League schedule,” said NDA coach Bobby Della Valle, whose team improved to 2-0 overall. “All 11 players who checked in found the scoreboard, and two of our sophomores reached career highs. We shared the ball incredibly well, finishing with 24 assists as a team. That’s the type of basketball we’re proud of.”

Caroline Kasegrande added 11 points and five assists, while Gianna Montagna led the defense with four steals.

The Gators play Sunday at CSI versus The Canberra Grammar School from Australia at 1:45 p.m.

Tottenville 81, Forest Hills 46

QUEENS, N.Y. — Game MVP Grace Anderson poured in 24 points and had six steals and six rebounds as the Pirates improved to 2-0 overall with the win in the Battle of the Boros Showcase on Saturday.

Brianna Ardolic chipped in with 14 points, while Araya Lichtman added 12.

The Tots host Holy Cross on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Susan Wagner Friday at 5:30 p.m.

BRONX, N.Y. — The Vikings recorded the win Sunday in the Slinky HS Showcase at Truman HS.

Sea was led by Olivia DiMonda’s 17 points, while Maria O’Connell, Giovanna Grima and Alicia Conti scored 11 points each.

Sea moves to 2-1 overall (1-1 in the league).

“We were really pleased with the intensity our team came out with this past weekend and some of things we started to see defensively,” said Sea coach Josh Suslak, whose team also won on Saturday. “We have a lot of work to do and need to continue to improve in all areas but certainly saw many promising moments and performances in these two games.”

Sea travels to Nazareth Friday evening for another league matchup.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Vikes picked up their first win of the year at home on Saturday, behind a balanced scoring attack led by DiMonda (10 points, four assists, four steals), Alicia Conti (10 points, 10 rebounds, her first career double-double), Giovanna Grima (nine points, three assists), Isabella Castania (eight points, four rebounds), Maria O’Connell (seven points) and Teagan Rowley (seven points, 11 rebounds).
