New York State Police Warn Of New Scam

Troop K within the New York State Police, which serves Dutchess, Putnam, Columbia and Westchester Counties, is warning the public of a new scam on the rise.

According to a social media post from the New York State Police, Troop K has received reports of individuals who “are impersonating members of the New York State Police.”

These individuals are then claiming that you “need to speak with a prosecutor regarding bail money for a loved one.”

Clearly, these individuals are scammers.

The New York State Police go on to remind the public the following:

Reminder: The New York State Police will NEVER ask for money or talk about payments.

They add that if you do receive a call similar to the one mentioned above to “hang up immediately and contact your local State Police station to verify and information.”
