STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Representatives for celebrities Colin Jost and Pete Davidson — and possibly the two themselves — will bring a proposal to dock their decommissioned John F. Kennedy ferryboat at Pier 1 before a Community Board 1 committee next week.
Details of the plans for the vessel and its conversion into an entertainment venue will be explained to a Community Board 1 committee in a public Zoom meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Davidson and Jost bought the vessel nicknamed “Titanic 2,” for $280,000 about four years ago with plans to turn it into a live entertainment venue.
The pair now faces various hidden costs, including refurbishing the boat, mooring it and making it compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act and other safety codes before it can be used as a business. It’s estimated that the undertaking will cost millions of dollars and take a number of years before all is said and done.
During the meeting of the New Brighton/St. George/Tompkinsville Committee, an explanation of every aspect of the plan is expected, a Community Board 1 spokesperson said. “How they plan to use it, parking, hours, everything,’’ she said. ”We just want to ask questions. They’ll probably be back again.”
According to the spokesperson, the two propose to dock the boat six months of the year on Staten Island and six months in lower Manhattan.
Parking and noise are expected to be big problems, she said.
Though the pair has admitted that they might have bitten off more than they can chew with the purchase, Davidson has told media outlets they have “a really good plan.”

The pair has spoken to a local civic association but this is the first time they’ve come before Community Board 1, according to the spokesperson.
Jost and Davidson are native Staten Islanders, who have made their challenges with the boat into a punchline.
They recently joked about it on a recent “Saturday Night Live” episode during a “Weekend Update”segment hosted by Jost.
