New York Mayor Eric Adams is considering a slate of appointments that could wield the power to block parts of mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani’s agenda.

Adams, who has just weeks left at City Hall, is weighing changes to the Rent Guidelines Board, which decides rent adjustments for roughly 1 million price-stabilized units, according to people with knowledge of the discussions. Terms have already come due for six of the nine members of the rental board, and Adams can decide at any time to reappoint or replace them.
