UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) — Schools across New York State have served over 150 million free meals since September, thanks to the Universal School Meals law.
The law, signed in May, ensures all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Schools now serve more than 2.5 million free meals daily, saving families an estimated $165 per child monthly on groceries, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office.Â
The initiative mandates that all participating schools provide free meals, eliminating financial barriers and ensuring no student goes hungry.
