Police in Brooklyn are investigating the discovery of a man’s head and torso in a garbage bag on Friday.
The bag was discarded in the trash receptacle in front of an East 21st Street apartment building just before 9:15 a.m.
A neighbor told Eyewitness News a couple lived next door and have been arguing for a week and a half.
The neighbor said they could hear banging and physically coming from their house.
The neighbor said suddenly a few days ago the arguing stopped and that he only saw one of the men coming and going quickly.
The neighbor said there was a smell of a dead body that filled the hallway.
The neighbor said he is a plumber and said he smells the worst things in the world, but this was ‘worse.’
He believes the body was brought out to the garbage on Friday because the smell in the hallway stopped.
Workers who were fixing the street apparently smelled the body Friday morning and reported to police.
Police confirmed they are looking for the roommate who is also possibly the boyfriend of the victim to be brought in for questioning after the superintendent saw him placing bags in the trash.
The two lived on the 6th floor, where police said they received a 311 call about a smell earlier on Friday.
The medical examiner will determine the man’s cause of death.
The victim has not been identified.
