NEW YORK (PIX11) — Ground stops and delays plagued travelers at all three New York City area airports Sunday, according to the FAA.

Ground stops were issued at LaGuardia and John F Kennedy airports around 8 a.m. The stops were lifted around by 11 a.m. at both airports. Both airports have delays well over two hours.

At Newark Liberty International Airport, travelers are seeing delays of nearly three hours, on average.

The travel slowdowns come as the tri-state area is covered in a blanket of snow for the first time this winter season.
