STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Mega Millions’ jackpot is inching upwards as the holidays draw closer.
Sitting at a comfortable $80 million — or $36.2 million, if you take the cash option — the next Mega Millions winner could pull a lucky ticket in time for Tuesday’s drawing.
No one scored the second- or third-place prizes in the game’s last drawing from Friday night, either.
Winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of one to 70. The Mega Ball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 25. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the gold Mega Ball number.
Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $5, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 10 p.m. on draw nights.
Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday, and the New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
Players can securely check their tickets on the New York Lottery app.
