STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— Firefighters and Con Edison workers responded to a report of a transformer fire Sunday morning.
According to the FDNY, at 8:23 a.m., they received an emergency call regarding a transformer fire at the location the 500 block of Davis Avenue in West Brighton.
The city Fire Department confirmed that they secured the scene and handed operations off to Con Edison after finishing the job at around 9:01 a.m.
A spokeswoman for Con Edison said by the time their crews arrived, the fire was extinguished.
“We responded to that location earlier today,” the spokeswoman said. “There was no transformer fire or impact to Con Edison equipment.”
According to the utility spokeswoman, a fallen tree branch had damaged a customer’s home service line.
“An electrician will need to make repairs to the customer’s equipment before service can be safely restored,” the spokeswoman elaborated. “No other customers were impacted.”
