GREENPOINT — HUNDREDS OF BROOKLYN families gathered in Greenpoint this weekend for a holiday toy giveaway and the unveiling of a new community computer lab, thanks to the Season of Giving campaign from National Grid, reports PIX News 11.
Children received new toys, while residents celebrated the opening of a tech-focused space featuring more than two dozen computers, laptops, tablets, a podcast area and DJ equipment.Â
The lab, located inside a local community center near Cooper Park, aims to narrow the digital divide and expand access to STEM education for neighborhood youth.
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso said the partnership helps ensure families across the borough have equal access to opportunity during the holiday season and beyond.
