The New York State Gaming Commission voted to issue Hard Rock International and Mets owner Steve Cohen a gaming license, clearing the way for an $8.1 billion casino project near Citi Field in Queens.
The move marks the project’s final green light after it won approval from the New York Gaming Facility Location Board earlier this month, and follows a yearslong process of lobbying local officials and courting residents to back the plan.
