WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Watertown late Sunday night.
As for the driver, police originally said someone was arrested, but a couple of hours later walked back that information, saying there had been a paperwork error.
Police said the crash happened in the 700 block of Coffeen Street at around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday.
They alleged a man was struck by a pickup truck, which left the scene.
Police did not release the name of the man who was hit, but said he was seriously hurt and was “being intubated” at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Police originally said the vehicle was driven by 44-year-old Marc Watrous of Putnam Station, New York.
The police initially reported that Watrous was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, and obstructing governmental administration.
Police also originally alleged that Watrous refused to give them his fingerprints or let them take his photograph.
Once again, police said a paperwork error occurred and Watrous was not officially arrested or charged.
Police said he’s under investigation for the crash.
