Hashi Market will officially open its doors on the Upper West Side this Wednesday at 2780 Broadway, between West 107th and 108th streets, taking over the former Garden of Eden space. The grand opening will begin at noon, and signage indicates gifts for the first 100 customers.
The new market describes itself as a hybrid concept — part fresh food supermarket, part mini department store, and part catering service — bringing together groceries, prepared foods, lifestyle goods, and party offerings under one roof. According to the company, Hashi Market aims to be “more than just a marketplace,” positioning itself as a cultural destination rooted in East Asian food and design while catering to everyday shopping needs.
Shoppers at the Upper West Side location can expect multiple departments, including grocery and pantry items, sushi and sashimi, fresh seafood, meat, produce, catering and party platters, as well as beauty products and kitchenware. The store emphasizes carefully curated products, ranging from sashimi-grade seafood and artisanal condiments to minimalist home goods and well-known beauty brands, with a focus on authenticity and craftsmanship.
Hashi Market has been steadily expanding its footprint in recent years, with locations already operating in Tribeca, the Garment District, Midtown, and Union Square, along with outposts in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California. News coverage of other locations has highlighted the brand’s combination of Japanese and Asian grocery staples, ready-to-eat meals like sushi and bento boxes prepared daily, and its catering services, which set it apart from more traditional supermarkets.
The opening also marks a new chapter for the Broadway storefront, which was previously home to Garden of Eden. The specialty grocery chain closed its Upper West Side location in the spring of 2024 after operating in the neighborhood for years, prompting mixed reactions from residents at the time. Garden of Eden continues to operate a location in Gramercy.
