ALBANY — Temperatures are expected to rise to nearly 50 degrees in part of the Capital Region later this week, lowering the odds of a white Christmas this year.
While temperatures are around 10 degrees below normal for the start of the week — with a low around 10 degrees on Monday and expected Tuesday — they will gradually rise until Thursday and Friday, which are expected to see highs between 40 and 47 degrees in the Albany area, Rosemary Webb, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, said Monday.
“It’s not going to stick around, unfortunately,” Webb said.
That’s because a cold front is expected to move in Friday night into Saturday morning, dropping temperatures back into the teens. Temperatures are expected to stay in the 30s through the weekend into early next week, with only a less-than 25% chance of light snow Sunday into Monday.
Before that, rain is predicted on Thursday before drying out on Friday afternoon.
