We are still a couple of months away from the official start of Winter, but the newest winter weather prediction is out. This time, the predication comes from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and it looks good for New York State. It looks like we won’t see a massive swing in our weather one way or another this Winter.
The NOAA Winter Weather Prediction For 2025-26
Earlier this week, officials with NOAA put out their prediction for Winter for the country, and if you look at New York State, it looks like it will be a very average Winter for the Empire State. While places like the Upper Midwest will be below average temperatures and above average snow amounts, here in New York State, the temperatures and snow amounts should be what we expect to be on a historical level.

The forecast is also calling for a La Niña weather pattern to be in place from December to February, which usually means a wetter winter, but if temperatures remain on par with the historical averages, we could see more rain than snow in December and February.
