BROOKLYN, Iowa (KCRG) – The Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office said it’s responding to an active situation in Brooklyn Thursday morning.
Sheriff Matt Maschmann advised people to avoid the area for safety concerns, but said there was no threat to the public.
The Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District shared that a suspect was contained in a downtown apartment.

Several local businesses, including City Hall, Brooklyn Municipal Utilities and Center Ground, shared that they were closed Thursday morning.
Iowa State Patrol is assisting with response.
