The Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office said it’s responding to an active situation in downtown Brooklyn Thursday morning, KCRG reports.Sheriff Matt Maschmann advised people to avoid the area for safety concerns, but said there was no threat to the public. Authorities have a portion of Jackson Street blocked off.The Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District shared from law enforcement that a suspect was contained in a downtown apartment.”Just to keep everyone informed and reassure you the safety of our students: This morning we were made aware of a situation downtown,” officials wrote on the school’s Facebook page. “Law enforcement has advised us that there is a dangerous suspect contained in an apartment downtown. Authorities have the situation under control, and there is no threat to the school.
