Pope Leo XIV has named Illinois Bishop Ronald Hicks as the next archbishop of New York. He will replace the current head of the Archdiocese of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who has served in that position for 16 years.

David Gibson, the director of Fordham University’s Center on Religion and Culture, joined NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry on “News All Day” to discuss the cultural and political significance of the appointment.
