STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 66-year-old woman who died and two other pedestrians were hit by a pick up truck while jaywalking on Castleton Avenue in West Brighton, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
The 66-year-old woman, and two other women ages 51 and 29, were walking across Castleton Avenue about 46 feet west of Barker Street. They were not in a crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound 2019 gray Ford F-250, according to the source.
No arrests have been made and the investigation continues on Friday, according to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
The three women sustained various injuries. The 66-year-old woman initially suffered from stomach pain. The 51-year-old woman complained of head pain and the 29-year-old woman experienced back pain, according to police.
All three women initially were listed in stable condition and transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to the NYPD spokesman.
The 66-year-old woman later died at the hospital.
The driver of the Ford F-250 remained at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the investigation continues on Friday, police said.
