The New York Mets traded away Brandon Nimmo this offseason and could be looking for help in the outfield. The Mets tried to add help in the outfield at this year’s trade deadline as well by adding Cedric Mullins.
With Mullins and Nimmo both gone, the Mets’ outfield needs even more help now. In free agency, Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger are both available. Internally, their No. 3 prospect, Jett Williams, could be an option. However, the Mets could also explore trades to find an outfielder.

Yahoo Sports’ Jordan Shusterman predicted the Mets would make this trade with the Chicago White Sox to land All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr.:
Mets receive: outfielder Luis Robert Jr.White Sox receive: RHP Jack Wenninger (Mets’ No. 13 prospect) and OF Nick Morabito (Mets’ No. 16 prospect)
Robert was an All-Star in 2023 for the White Sox, but has constantly dealt with injuries in his career. In 2023, when he was healthy, he hit 38 home runs and stole 20 bases. The White Sox picked up his $20 million club option for next season, but he has another $20 million club option for 2027.
Overall, Robert has had back-to-back disappointing seasons. However, he had a great second half last season, slashing .298/.352/.456 with five home runs in 31 games. He showed flashes of being a star again, and perhaps playing for a team with winning aspirations could get him rolling again.
