New York City’s Campaign Finance Board is probing whether a group of political action committees that spent more than $20 million supporting Andrew Cuomo’s unsuccessful bid for mayor illegally coordinated with the former governor and his campaign, according to people with knowledge of the investigation.

The inquiry stems from a formal complaint filed by Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s campaign on Nov. 3, the day before he won election, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing an ongoing probe.
