YORK-POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) – A bus driver was taken off bus route 304 for Queens Lake Middle School following an altercation at the Marquis Parkway and Calais street stop Friday morning, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
A spokesperson for the York County school division said the driver had requested deputies’ presence following the incident.
WAVY 10 received a statement the principal of Queens Lake Middle following the incident:
This is Candice Welch, principal of Queens Lake Middle School calling families of bus route 304 regarding the incident that took place at the Marquis Parkway and Calais street stop resulting in officers from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responding to the stop this morning.
School and division staff are working closely with the Sheriff’s Office to conduct a thorough investigation into staff, student and adult actions this morning. I want to assure you I take this matter seriously, as do our leaders at the School Board Office. While this investigation continues, an alternate driver has been assigned to the route.

The incident is currently under investigation by both the school division and the sheriff’s office.
