BROOKLYN, NY (WFSB) – On Saturday, the undefeated, top ranked, and Defending National Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team took their talents down to Brooklyn, for a showdown with #11 Iowa, inside the Barclays Center.
Sarah Strong is off to an incredible start to her sophomore season, and she continued to impress with another dominant performance down in NYC. Strong set the tone early by dropping 20-points in the first half. She finished with 23-points, 7-rebounds, 4-assists, and 6-steals.
When you combined the hot start by Strong, with the Huskies relentless defense throughout the game forcing a total of 26 turnovers, you have UConn adding another ranked win to their resume, 90-64.
Azzi Fudd might’ve started out a little slow, but she caught fire in the second half, sending a message with 27-points. Blanca Quinonez continues to be a big spark off the bench for the Huskies. Quinonez added 10-points and five-assists to the Huskies cause.
This win improves the Huskies record to 12-0 on the season. #1 UConn has a week off for the holidays, before getting back in work against Butler on December 28th. That game will be played in Indianapolis, and the opening tip is set for 4:00pm.
