President Donald Trump on Saturday offered a “Complete and Total endorsement” of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in the race for New York governor.
“Bruce is MAGA all the way, and has been with me from the very beginning,” Trump posted to his social media platform Truth Social. “Bruce Blakeman is a FANTASTIC guy, will win the big November Election and, without hesitation, has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Governor of the ONCE GREAT STATE OF NEW YORK (IT CAN BE GREAT AGAIN!).”

Trump’s endorsement comes a day after Rep. Elise Stefanik announced she was dropping out of the gubernatorial race and not seeking reelection to Congress.
In a statement, Blakeman said he is “blessed and grateful to have the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump.”
“President Trump loves New York and we will be partners in making New York safe and affordable,” Blakeman’s statement reads, in part.
Blakeman officially entered the race earlier this month.
The latest polling by Siena found that Gov. Kathy Hochul held a bigger lead over Blakeman than Stefanik in a head-to-head race. She led both of them by double digits, according to that poll.
“Donald Trump endorsed Bruce Blakeman for one reason: he’ll put Trump first, New York last, and leave families to foot the bill,” Hochul said in a statement, in part. “Blakeman should have learned a lesson from Elise Stefanik: MAGA sellouts don’t win New York, and they sure as hell don’t end up in the governor’s mansion.”
Stefanik’s exit leaves Blakeman as the sole Republican left in the race. Blakeman also picked up an endorsement from New York Republican Committee chair Ed Cox on Friday following Stefanik’s announcement.
