STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— Winning back-to-back team championships is a major accomplishment on its own, but the Gators of Notre Dame Academy made further history on Saturday as star senior Katelyn Kliesch became the first borough athlete to ever win four individual Island titles—capping a landmark day for the Grymes Hill school.
Much like McKee/Staten Island Tech’s dominant performance earlier in the day, the Gators cruised to victory with just 34 points, comfortably ahead of runners-up Susan Wagner (51) and third-place St. Joseph-by-the-Sea (66)—a result that surely pleased head coach James Walker.
