FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers Women’s Soccer team (6-5-5, 5-4-1 MAAC) dropped its conference contest Saturday afternoon against the Stags from Fairfield University (13-1-2, 8-0-2 MAAC) by a final score of 4-2 at Lessing Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

As the first shot on goal, Olivia McMaster got the party started with a shot off her knee, coming from an Amaya Hill cross in the seventh minute.
Successfully defending two shots from Fairfield shortly after, the pursuit proved to be too much as Kayleigh Lukasik knotted up the score in the 17th.
The Stags continued to put on offensive pressure, finally paying off with another score just past the first half hour.
With minimal chances for the Jaspers down the first half stretch, the home squad was able to capitalize on another opportunity before the halftime break in the 41st.
McMaster and Marlene Berlinghoff both put together on-target looks early in the latter half, saved by Fairfield’s Katie Wright.
Following a fourth Stag goal, McMaster once again took a pass from Hill in the 68th minute, cutting the Jasper deficit in half at 4-2.
While Samantha D’Angelo got one last look against Wright, an unsuccessful conversion was the last event of note in the Fairfield victory.
