FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers Women’s Volleyball team (2-16, 0-9 MAAC) fell to the Stags of Fairfield University (15-4, 9-0 MAAC) in straight sets (17-25, 19-25, 14-25) inside Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Each side traded a stretch of unanswered points, with Manhattan’s five putting them within one, highlighted by Hanna Kaczynska and Emma Francesoni kills.
Emilia Kuzniar served up an ace to cut the Jaspers deficit down to 17-13.
Fairfield carried their late set momentum to the end, as a Harlan Wyche kill ended the opener.
Kaczynska and Abby Morreale’s back-to-back decisive shots put Manhattan up early in the second at 4-2.
Four unanswered late from the Stags set the table, and another sequence of back-to-back kills put away set number two.
The home team captured eight of the first ten points to set the tone in the final set.
A service ace from Fairfield ended the day’s action, culminating a 6-1 stretch.
STATS AND NOTES
Freshman right side Hanna Kaczynska led the Jaspers in kills, accumulating eight.Â
Sophomore outside hitter Fiona VanDyke followed closely behind with six.
Manhattan hit at its best rate in the opening set, with a .167 clip.
The Green and White won the inside battle in blocks with eight, as Junior setter Emilia Kuzniar’s four contributed the most.
Senior setter Sarah Emmons spread the ball out the most (nine), with Kuzniar helping her do so, tallying 17 total assists combined.

The Green and White will return to Draddy Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 21, when the Jaspers welcome the Bulldogs from Bryant University. The match can be viewed on the Jasper Sports Network for a 6 p.m. opening serve.
