It looks like it will be a mild Christmas across New York State, but things will change as we head into the weekend. If you are traveling for Christmas, getting to Grandma’s house shouldn’t be a problem, but getting back home might be an issue.

Hazardous Weather Outlook For New York State

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement for much of New York State starting on Friday. A clipper system is expected to bring plowable amounts of snow to much of New York with possible rain and sleet through the weekend.

A winter weather advisory is in place for parts of Central and Northern New York until 7 am this morning with up to 5 inches of snow possible.

Outside of that snow, it looks like much of New York State will have a green Christmas before another storm moves into the region.

Things will start to change on Friday when a clipper system is expected to move across the state early Friday morning. That system will bring snow, rain, and sleet to much of the state with the chance of snow continuing into the weekend.
