A holiday stroll around the neighborhood’s firehouses
The five FDNY firehouses south of Canal are each decorated for Christmas in their own special way, and I highly recommend a holiday stroll to see them all. Starting at Ladder 8, the Ghostbusters firehouse on Varick and N. Moore and ending with Ten House at the World Trade Center, the hour-long walk will wend you through Tribeca, the Civic Center, the Seaport, Fidi and end at the 9/11 Memorial. Make sure you peek in the windows.
The firefighters at Ten House have their own unique holiday memorial to the fallen.
Along the way we stopped at The Hideaway for a beer (well, that was actually *on* the way, but you get the idea), the Tin Building for these festive little ornament-shaped tins with chocolates in them as last-minute gifts, and Eataly for gelato.
Merry/happy to all, and holiday wishes and thanks to our local firefighters.
