Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office is urging caution ahead of a post-holiday winter system expected to move into New York starting Friday and lasting into Saturday morning.
While heavier snow is forecast for some parts of the state, others could see a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain across the Finger Lakes region and Western New York, making roads especially slick.
With post-Christmas travel happening, drivers are urged to allow extra time, pack safety essentials and monitor local forecasts.
New Yorkers can sign up for weather and emergency alerts by texting their county name to 333-111.
