TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Both Emporia and Manhattan are helping people dispose of their live Christmas trees after the holiday season.
In Emporia, drop them off at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, 12th & Industrial; Dillon’s East, 902 E. 12th Ave.; or Guion’s Showcase, 2023 W. 6th Ave. through Jan. 2nd. You also can bring them to the Emporia/Lyon Co. Transfer Station, 3100 W. South Ave. during normal business hours.
There’s no charge, but remove any bags before disposal.
Manhattan Parks and Recreation also is accepting trees through the end of January. People may drop them off at Long’s Park, 16th & Yuma. They ask that people remove all ornaments and tinsel before disposing of them.
Manhattan Parks and Rec will mulch the trees for use in trails and landscaping.
In Topeka, the Topeka Zoo has a tree drop-off site through Jan. 15.
