The snow has mostly tapered off, leaving the New York metro area blanketed in several inches of fresh snow — right as millions are expected to travel after the Christmas holiday.
New York City officially recorded more than 4 inches in Central Park. It’s the first time the city recorded more than 4 inches of snow since a winter storm in January 2022.
The snow came down particularly hard in areas north and east of the city. Several communities in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut recorded 9 inches.
