NEW YORK (PIX11) — A cold front will move through the region this afternoon followed by high pressure which will bring Canadian air back into the area.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect this morning for portions of the tri-state area. A Wind Advisory is in effect from late morning through early afternoon Tuesday for portions of the area.

Expect fog and drizzle to give way to steady rain later this morning. Winds will become gusty by the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to near 50 degrees in the city, low to mid 50s in the suburbs.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, windy, and much colder as high pressure will work its way on from the west. Temperatures will be well below average with a high of 33 in the city, upper 20s to low 30s in the suburbs.

Wednesday will be sunny early followed by increasing clouds in the afternoon as a weak storm system will pass to the north.  There is a chance of scattered flurries toward evening as the system moves through. The high will be 34 in the city, low to mid 30s in the suburbs.

Thursday will be mostly sunny, windy, and very cold as arctic air settles into the area.  Temperatures will be in the upper 20s for much of the area.

Friday will be partly cloudy and continued cold as high pressure will remain in control of the weather for the region. The high will be 30 in the city, upper 20s to low 30s in the suburbs.
