The NFL trading deadline is still several weeks away (November 4), but the New York Giants need wide receiver help now.
With star wideout Malik Nabers gone for the year with a torn ACL, the Giants have been running on fumes at the position and have even incurred more injuries since Nabers went down several weeks ago.
One of the Giants’ potential trade targets has been Miami Dolphins speedster Jaylen Waddle, a former No. 6 overall pick back in 2021 out of Alabama, but acquiring him seems to be a long shot at the moment.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that it is unlikely to happen as the 1-5 Dolphins aren’t about to admit they are sellers.
Several teams have called the Dolphins about star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and sources say those teams have been told Miami has no interest in trading him. Similar to (Jeffrey) Simmons for Tennessee, dealing Waddle would signal a look to the future rather than trying to win now. While things can change, it seems far more likely Miami would be willing to deal an edge rusher (perhaps Matt Judon, Bradley Chubb or even Jaelan Phillips).

Waddle is one of three trade targets bandied about by Giants pundits this week. The Saints’ Chris Olave and Jakobi Meyers of the Raiders are the other two.
Waddle appears to be the most attractive to the Giants. He has 29 receptions for 390 yards and three touchdowns this season. The soon-to-be 27-year-old began his NFL career with three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, including a star turn in 2022 when he recorded 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns.
The current Dolphins’ brass would be admitting failure should they trade Waddle away. As Rapoport noted, they want to give their fans the appearance that they can still win now. The standings, however, indicate otherwise.
