Neighbors said the incident has left the community shaken.
“I think it’s grotesque, and I’m terrified for me and my children,” said one neighbor. “I walk up and down this block. Everybody — it’s wholesome families. They’re going about their lives. They’re good, hard-working people. It’s a bad connotation. It’s not a good block. But it’s not because of the people that live here. It’s the people who walk through here that is the problem.”
Police said the woman is not currently in custody and no arrests have been made.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the baby’s cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
