Family-friendly ‘Noon Year’s Eve’ at Gifford Zoo

Families who don’t want the kids to stay up until midnight can instead take them to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse on Wednesday for “Noon Year’s Eve,” featuring a dance party and a noon ball drop for the kids. Zoo admission is $9 for adults, $5 for youths and seniors and free for children 2 and younger. The first 1,000 visitors get free party hats and horns to ring in the “noon year.”

Salt City Market hosting NYE prom

It may not take an over-the-top “promposal,” but you could dance until midnight at Salt City Bar at Salt City Market for its New Year’s Eve Prom. Admission is free; the party runs from 8 p.m.-12:30 a.m., and the theme is “Disco Prom.” There will be drink specials and a costume contest. The ball drops in Binghamton

You don’t have to go to Times Square to see the ball drop if you’re in Binghamton. Station 45 American Chop House will host a free fireworks show, ball drop and live music in its side parking lot (45 Lewis Street) New Year’s Eve. For more information, check the Station 45 Facebook page.

Utica New Year’s Eve celebration downtown

The Bank of Utica will host its annual New Year’s Eve event outside the bank’s Genesee Street location, between Bank Place and Devereux Street, from 6:30 p.m.-midnight. There will be live music, street performers, a DJ, yard games, a chili cook-off and more. The event is presented with the city’s public safety departments. Turning Stone events on NYE
