MIDWOOD — POLICE HAVE ARRESTED a 19-year-old suspect in a November shooting that critically injured a Brooklyn high school basketball player, reports the New York Post, as the victim continues a long recovery.

The NYPD said Isaiah Greaves was taken into custody on Dec. 17 in connection with the Nov. 30 shooting near Avenue J and East 16th Street in Midwood. Investigators say a bullet struck 16-year-old Nana Donkor in the back while he was waiting for a bus, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Police believe Donkor was not the intended target and that a second suspect remains at large.

Greaves has been charged with attempted murder, felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court Jan. 7.

Donkor’s mother said the arrest does not undo the damage. “Getting [Greaves] is not going to bring my son back,” she told the Post. “They have to be jailed.”
