BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A box full of NYPD uniforms was found abandoned on the sidewalk near a Brooklyn cemetery on Tuesday night, police said.

Officers responding to the scene found a brown cardboard box containing NYPD pants, shirts, jackets, and hats near the Greenwood Cemetery at 37th Street and Ninth Avenue at around 8:40 p.m., cops said.

An Instagram video showed several officers emptying the boxes before putting the gear in bags. The uniforms were taken to the 66th Precinct stationhouse on 16th Avenue for safekeeping, police said.

It was unclear who left the police gear at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
