HONOLULU (Island News) — The Queen’s Medical Center in Punchbowl welcomed its first baby born in 2026 just a few hours after midnight.

Mom Kristine Miyasato gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Queen’s Hospital located in Downtown Honolulu at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The newborn weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was measured at 22 inches in length.

Her parents, Kristine and Kevyn Yonesaki, have not given her a name at this time.

The baby girl and her parents are resting comfortably, The Queen’s Health Systems said.
